Aim: The tutorial aims at providing participants with basic knowledge and practical skills on how to apply strain imaging for evaluation of left ventricle function.

Topics: Evaluation of left ventricle systolic function by strain imaging in heart failure with reduced or preserved ejection fraction, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease.

Level: Participants are expected to have basic skills on echocardiography, but no previous experience on strain imaging is needed.

Number of participants per group: maximum 30 (two groups; one in Finnish and one in English)

Structure:
Part I, 60 minutes
Group 1. Introductory lecture on basic theory, applications, and interpretation of strain (Geeta Gulati, Oslo (NO)) 30 minutes and
Tutorial on image acquisition for strain analysis (Minna Kylmälä, Helsinki (FI)) 30 minutes.
Group 2. Introductory lecture on basic theory, applications, and interpretation of strain (Jens-Uwe Voigt, Leuven (BE)) 30 minutes and
Tutorial on image acquisition for strain analysis (Minna Kylmälä, Helsinki (FI)) 30 minutes.

Part II, 60 minutes
Hands-on demonstration of strain analysis.
